Early life:Rai was born on 1 November 1973 Mangolore karnataka, India to Krishnaraj her father, a marine biologist and Brindya her mother, a housewife. She has an engineer brother Aditya Rai. Her family moved to Mumbai and Rai attended the Arya Vdya Mandir High School followed by attended Hind College for intermediate. However, she passed HSC exam securing 90 percent number from DG Rparel College. Initially she wanted to build her career in medicine. She enrolled at Rheja College with plans to become an architect but later she dropped out from her education to pursue a career in modeling.
